RSE and PSHE
Relationships and Sex Education, and Personal, Social, Health and Economic education
Our teaching of RSE and PSHE promotes opportunities to link British values with Social, Moral, Spiritual, Cultural (SMSC) and economic responsibilities. It helps to give children the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy, independent lives and to become informed, active, responsible citizens. At Ellenbrook Community Primary School, children’s well-being, happiness and safety are our first priority and PSHE is the key vehicle through which we share this with children. We provide our children with opportunities for them to learn about rights and responsibilities and appreciate what it means to be a member of a diverse society.
We regard PSHE as an important, integral component of the whole curriculum. We aim to enable children to meet the End of Key Stage Statements as set out in the PSHE and Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education Guidance 2019.
During their time at Ellenbrook Community Primary School, the children will learn about:
- Relationships focusing upon family and people; caring friendships; respectful relationships and asking for help
- Health and wellbeing; safety (including online); physical and mental wellbeing and growing and changing
- Living in the wider world; belonging to a community; media resilience; digital literacy; money and work
